United States WOAH reported highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N4 at a backyard producer premises in Teton County, Montana. The detected Eurasian lineage goose/Guangdong clade 2.3.4.4b is highly pathogenic for poultry. This is the first confirmed case of HPAI H5N4 in poultry in the United States.

Mexico WOAH reported highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in Metepec. H5N1 was identified in a Gyrfalcon in one of the migratory wild bird corridors crossing the country, and represents the first isolation of a HPAI H5N1 strain in Mexico.

H5N6 and H5N1 viruses were identified in various wild bird cases in various areas including Manitoba, British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Québec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Wildlife surveillance and the Canadian Avian Influenza Surveillance System (CanNAISS) activities for poultry are ongoing.
