Two Baker County residents have contracted the West Nile virus (WNV) from mosquito bites, officials announced. Prior to this case, the most recent confirmed WNV human cases in Baker County were in 2014.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has reported the first human cases of West Nile virus (WNV) of the year, both in Washington County. So far this year, WNV activity has been detected in 10 counties.
